Lots of Fundraiser Fun at the Basket Raffle

Big THANK YOUS to everyone who attended LCWC’s raffle fundraiser last Wednesday, September the 30th.

Tutors, friends, family, community partners, and Board members showed up to support the event! Baskets were raffled, funds were raised, and an all around good time was had by those who stopped by. Plus, it didn’t hurt to have the coolest venue of Hub City Brewery AND the cutest MC announcing the raffle winners!

We appreciate each donation — whether it was filling the baskets or purchasing tickets — and are dedicated to using every dollar raised to empower our adult students in reaching their education goals.

LCWC Service Spotlight: GOAL Classes

GOAL is picking up momentum; we have officially passed the halfway point of the 8 week reading comprehension course.

Here’s a (literal) snapshot of GOAL Saturday morning tutoring: Lots of student and tutor engagement! The informality and open learning environment allows for student frustrations to be addressed in real time. Our tutors are meeting the challenge every week and students are reaping the benefits of that immediate feedback! We’re calling it a win!!

New Community Partnership: The ENOUGH Initiative

What ENOUGH families need:

  1. A weekly beginning-level English conversation group for mostly Spanish speaking moms; Tuesdays from 10:30am – 12pm
  2. A weekly higher/intermediate English class for working families; Fridays from 6pm – 7:30pm

We need tutors to fill this immediate need. All teacher and student supplies will be provided. Please contact Laura if you are interested in leading or assisting classes!

Resource Center

ENOUGH Multilingual Family Services

The ENOUGH initiative is a location-based resource sharing program supported by the Asian American Center of Frederick and HARC. The newsletter above includes a boundary map showing the area ENOUGH serves.

¿Necesitas ayuda con alguno de estos servicios? Dental, Médico, Salud Mental, Vivienda, Idioma Inglés, Empleo, Comida, Ropas. Escanear para registrarse.

If a family would like to apply, have them scan the QR code. This will offer them a choice of language and request information such as address, ages of their children, preferred language, etc. When this is complete, ENOUGH representatives will contact the family to let them know if they qualify for services or not. Even if they do not qualify, ENOUGH tries to connect them with other resources who provide help.
