Community Partner Spotlight: Refugee Welcome Network
On August 26th, Kathy Powderly (Current Director of HARC & former LCWC ED) and Jane Powell (Spearhead of the Enough Initiative through AAC of Frederick & former LCWC ED) spoke with gathered tutors about the Refugee Welcome Network: WHAT they do, WHO they help, and HOW they function. It was a great afternoon of resource sharing, further equipping LCWC volunteers with knowledge of local partners.

Have you heard of Ride United?
Ride United is a program with a clear mission: to fill the gap in transportation assistance. United Way of Washington County now offers this option when no other transportation options are available. In collaboration with Lyft and Community Partners, Ride United provides convenient round-trip, on-demand Lyft rides connecting community members to essential services. The program is open only to Washington County residents and covers up to $54 round-trip, with different provisions for each ride; all rides must originate in Washington County, MD. Upcoming Events
We hope to see many of you at LCWC’s Raffle Fundraiser on Wednesday, September 30th, from 4:00–6:00 PM at Hub City Brewery. There is no cover charge for this event — come to mingle, drink, relax with other tutors, and say good things about LCWC! Anyone is welcome to buy raffle tickets for a chance of winning the Bountiful Baskets. Check our Facebook page to see teaser pictures of the offerings. A cash bar will be available, and all funds raised will support LCWC operations & programming.
